The maths department is in the strong position of being fully staffed with 10 maths specialists and a wonderful director of maths. Whilst we have various formal roles in the department our success has been a result of a true team effort, supporting each other in our pursuit of happy, confident and high achieving students and we pride ourselves on our availability to students.

Key Stage 3

The maths course at Key Stage 3 provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the GCSE maths course in Key Stage 4. Year 7 and Year 8 follow a mastery scheme of work which promotes a depth and breadth of understanding around each theme to ensure a fluent foundation is built and students’ deep understanding allows them the skills to apply and communicate their knowledge creatively across a range of contexts and problems.

Key Stage 4

Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (9-1)

The course covers the full mathematics content including Shape and Space, Number, Algebra and Data handling, with a high focus on problem solving and functional maths that promote independent and creative application of skills to wider contexts.

Edexcel GCSE Statistics (A*-G Examination June 2017, 9-1 Examination June 2018)

This course covers various statistical techniques for gathering, processing and interpreting data from a variety of context. Again understanding is promoted to allow students the flexibility to apply their knowledge to modelled real life scenarios.
